Land Rights & Recognition

The challenges faced by First Nation populations in Canada can be traced back to colonial times. Communities were oppressed, discriminated against, and were victims of cultural genocide. One of the main injustices they still face today relates to land rights and recognition. For them, the importance of territory for First Nations goes beyond the concept of physical ground. They indeed share a special relationship with the land, as it encompasses their spirituality, tradition, identity, and sense of community. For this reason, they are engaged in an ongoing fight to protect their land that was once taken away by colonizers. With this being said, the objective of this paper was to delve into the efforts made at the Canadian federal level, Quebec provincial level, and BC provincial level regarding this topic. The aim was to understand what has been done so far, and most importantly what has yet to be done.

Psychopathology Assignment
Munchausen's syndrome and Munchausen by proxy
The objective of this project was to gain a deeper understanding of a specific psychological disorder. Our team selected Munchausen syndrome and Munchausen by proxy, two extremely rare disorders characterized by individuals feigning or exaggerating illness or injury, either for themselves or someone else, in order to garner sympathy and attention. Due to the severe impact these disorders can have on those affected and the lack of general awareness about them, we chose to focus our assignment on these particular conditions. We presented our research findings in a short synopsis and through a video.
Being In love: Is It Enough?
Since the beginning of time, humans have built romantic relationships with each other. This type of love comes with both benefits and disadvantages that are very interesting to me. For this research paper, I wanted to answer the following question: What factors can have a negative impact on a heterosexual long-term romantic relationship between two cis-gendered individuals? The goal of this work was to demonstrate that although love is powerful, a romantic relationship cannot survive solely on this feeling, as it can be outweighed by many factors. More specifically, upbringing, individual traits, and inadequate communication.

The Great Depression vs the COVID-19 Recession
Recessions and Depressions occur when the economy is at a low point, which has happened a lot throughout history. The Great Depression and the COVID-19 Recession are known as two of the worst economic downturns to ever happen. This research paper aimed to answer the following question: What are the similarities and differences between the economic effects of the Great Depression vs the COVID-19 Recession? My team and I thoroughly compared and analyzed both events using existing research from different academic search engines.

The Italian Renaissance
Marking a period of rebirth, the Renaissance flourished in several European countries during the 15th and 16th centuries. Artists, scientists, writers, and many others all over the continent made exceptional discoveries during this era. However, why is it said that Italy is the true birthplace of the Renaissance? Exploring the existing research and historical facts on the subject helped me uncover answers as to why Italy is without a doubt the country that embodies this period of history.
